Well, it was only a matter of time before the crazy win streak by Indian would be brought to an end. But not many thought it would come at the hands of Briar Bauman or a Kawasaki. But that's what happened on Saturday (June 24) at the Lima Half-Mile in Lima, Ohio.
Not to take anything away from the racer or the bike, but given the hype around Indian's re-entry into flat track after more than a half century absence, and the possibility of a new rivalry between them and Harley, it seemed "the Company" and its own wrecking crew might be the one to finally snap Indian's momentum.
Instead, Bauman (the 2012 GNC rookie of the year) buried the competition in his heat and the semis to take what is only his third premier class win of his career. Indian was left with a second, thanks to Brad Baker, and Jeffrey Carver, Jr. came in third on a Kawasaki Ninja 650.
The other two members of the Indian wrecking crew, Brian Smith and Jared Mees, now sit at 1-2 in the overall standings.
