Aether Rally Jacket is a Cut Above
The biggest issue with most motorcycle jackets is they look like, well, motorcycle jackets. You either end up with a big bulky leather number or something that makes you look like you're wearing the armor fit for a super hero. It's not that either look is good or bad, but once in awhile - or maybe always - it would be nice to have a jacket that didn't scream "I'm riding a motorcycle today!"
Aether Apparel is solving that problem with their Rally Jacket that was introduced earlier this summer.
A sturdy 3-layer, abrasion-resistant nylon shell serves as the overall framework. Claiming to be both waterproof and wind resistant, the Rally has a two-way zipper and large snaps at the center front that allow you to shut it without zipping it.
It also comes with a chest pocket, dual hand pockets, and back and pit vents for temperature control. There's even a rubberized bottom front snap that won't scratch your tank.
Aether worked with D3O to use their patented and proprietary technologies to provide armor at the elbow, shoulder and back. This stuff is soft and flexible enough to bend, but if hit, the molecules in each piece lock together to blunt the force of the impact. Don't want or need that kind of protection? All of these CE-certified pieces are completely removable.
The Rally Jacket comes in three colors - jet black, graphite (grey) and total eclipse (dark blue). At $650.00 it's not the least expensive jacket you'll own, but it will probably be the most useful and best looking.
